Milwaukee Child Find Project
The Milwaukee Child Find Project is a new project designed to support parents of children with disabilities living in the City of Milwaukee. This project puts particular focus on helping parents be effective in securing timely and appropriate educational services for their children, by increasing access to skills, knowledge, and resources related to provisions of IDEA, Child Find, and Parent Involvement. The Milwaukee Child Find Project builds on existing collaborative relationships in the community, while working to forge new relationships. Through the project, parents can access culturally-relevant and community-based training, information and referral, resources, and support.

Milwaukee IDEA Network
The Milwaukee IDEA Network is a collaborative network of Milwaukee Area organizations designed to improve outcomes for children and their families. Through networking opportunities organizations come together to share information, resources, and expertise that they can take back to the families and clients they support. The IDEA Network also provides direct support to families through high quality training opportunities, information & referral services and individual support.

Milwaukee County Advocacy Project
The Milwaukee County Advocacy & Consumer Education Grant provides information, support and training to Milwaukee county youth (typically ages 14-21) and their families. The grant targets underserved populations within the City of Milwaukee while also conducting outreach to families in other areas of Milwaukee County. Project activities include trainings for students, parents and educators on self-advocacy and transition, as well as the Youth Leadership Summit for high school students with disabilities. WI FACETS partners with IndependenceFirst, a local independent living center, on this program.
UW Promotora Project
This is 2-year research project, in partnership with UW-Madison School of Social Work, to develop and test a culturally sensitive educational intervention to address the needs of immigrant Latino families of young children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder through a community collaborative approach. Spanish-speaking WI FACETS community health advisors (promotoras de salud) conduct 8 home visits to 20 parents for each of two intervention modules. The first module includes basic information about child development and autism; the second has content on how parents can work with their children to reduce problem behaviors and improve social and communication skills. Spanish speaking parents are gaining vital skills to help them advocate for and obtain important services for their children and will give these parents the tools to provide ongoing educational intervention to their children in the home.
